70 percent Of Surveyed Executives Believe Business Will Grow Strongly In Latin America In The Next Year

US 08/28/13Miami, FLSixth edition of the UPS Business Monitor Latin America study monitors sentiment on growth, investment and challengesAccording to the sixth edition of the UPS Business Monitor Latin America (BMLA), 70% of small and medium-sized businesses believe businesses in Latin America will grow strongly in the next 12 months, up from 62% in 2011. Technology and construction continue to be identified as the industries with the greatest growth opportunity according to the surveyed executives in Latin America. The study, commissioned by UPS and conducted by TNS Gallup between April and May 2013, surveyed more than 800 top-level SME executives in seven Latin America and the Caribbean countries. Nonetheless, when compared to the results from the 2011 BMLA study, business services fell to fifth place and was replaced this year by leisure and tourism as a sector with more growth opportunity. Barriers and ChallengesWith regard to what the countries identify as barriers preventing the expansion of their business, SMEs see the search for suppliers and customs duties as the two most significant challenges.

UPS Introduces New Data Enhancements To Team Performance Index For 2013 NCAA Football Season

The UPS Team Performance Index will be updated each week, beginning Monday, Sept. 16, and then each week thereafter throughout the regular college football season. "The team at STATS is excited to be back with UPS for year two of the Team Performance Index," said STATS Senior Vice President Greg Kirkorsky. Alabama (13-1), which won the BCS national championship last season, also topped the final UPS Team Performance Index of the season last year with a TPI rating of 130.1, beating out Oregon (125.46) and Kansas State (125.14). In creating the UPS Team Performance Index, STATS reviewed 10 years of past FBS statistical data, finding a strong correlation to overall performance in all aspects of the game and winning. The UPS Team Performance Index, first introduced last season, is the first overall statistical algorithm that together ranks college football teams across all three statistical categories -- offense, defense and special teams.
